C.3: On Confluence
Greetings from West Virginia...
Over the last year I've created a body of photographs that are processed using the polluted water in the North Fork Blackwater watershed in Tucker County, WV. I shot the images on a number of walks through the riverbeds and printed them using a version of the Van Dyke Brown process which takes acidic water as it's processing agent. As the river is deeply impacted by acid mine drainage due to coal mining it provided the ideal pH range to act as processing chemistry. The prints are unique and contain traces of the same heavy metals and minerals as the river itself.

The project will be showing at The White Room in Thomas, WV from now through mid-June with an opening Saturday, May 28th from 7:00 – 10:00pm. It will also be on show in my studio/display space for the remainder of the summer. I invite you to come see the work if you are in the Tucker County area.
Cheers...
